(07:03:48 PM) Rivet_: something's going weird with them, yeah. Normally it'll chat at you if you put in a bad command
(07:04:00 PM) Gerhal: I wonder if mirc or esper.net is doing something to stop bot tools.
(07:04:13 PM) Rivet_: may be esper.net. I don't use mirc

(07:06:33 PM) Rivet_: That's what I'm figuring.
(07:06:59 PM) Gerhal: Yeah, that's what the averages suggest.
(07:07:15 PM) Gerhal: So, Bill isn't going to make it tonight?
(07:07:36 PM) Rivet_: Got no idea
(07:07:48 PM) Gerhal: In his email he's coming home from nekocon
(07:09:08 PM) Siren1: That guy is a convention champion.
(07:09:34 PM) Gerhal: Seriously. He's committed to LARP, and his LARP crew.
(07:10:08 PM) Siren1: He has a LARP crew?
(07:10:15 PM) Siren1: Is that connected to his conning?
(07:10:21 PM) Gerhal: Yeah. That's what he does at cons.
(07:10:26 PM) Gerhal: They run LARPs.
(07:10:55 PM) Siren1: Aoohh. That's fascinating. How does that work?
(07:11:07 PM) Gerhal: I'm not really certain.
(07:11:35 PM) Siren1: lol
(07:11:36 PM) Gerhal: It's like one shot game scenarios, and I think they pre-make character sheets. And people just pick a sheet, and play that role for the scene.
(07:11:57 PM) Gerhal: But I'm speaking from hearsay, so I can't vouch for the veracity of my testimony.
(07:12:12 PM) Siren1: Gotcha. So what does Bill do? Does he participate in the scene?
(07:12:48 PM) Nacht: LARPing looks sorta fun..I'll admit it..
(07:12:53 PM) Gerhal: Sometimes. I think he also picks characters who are "legal" for play, builds the rules and the character sheets. Makes reservation for the game space at the con.
(07:13:06 PM) Gerhal: Granted, it's a crew doing that.
(07:13:09 PM) Gerhal: Not just Bill
(07:13:29 PM) Siren1: Right right. So does he get paid to be at all these conventions?
(07:13:42 PM) Gerhal: Heavens no.
(07:14:23 PM) Siren1: Man. That's intense.
(07:15:09 PM) Gerhal: I give him props for doing what he loves to do. Even if that was my thing (it isn't), I would be way too shy to do it.
(07:15:45 PM) Nacht: If it was Godzilla, or TMNT, LARP I'd be all over it.
(07:16:19 PM) Siren1: I'm sure you'd build up to it. That's some commitment, though, for sure.
(07:16:36 PM) Nacht: Sure is.
(07:16:58 PM) Gerhal: Anyways, he warned us this could/would happen as I recall.
(07:16:59 PM) Nacht: Cool that he does it.
(07:17:30 PM) Gerhal: So it's time to pony up. What do you want to do? Shall we wrap up the Escape from Fort Plissken?
(07:17:48 PM) Nacht is now known as Sutherland
(07:18:23 PM) You are now known as Talib
(07:19:27 PM) Gerhal: Siren accidently closed her app, and doesn't know how to get it back open. (She's on a mac) She's closing out, and trying to reconnect from scratch.
(07:19:42 PM) Sutherland: I understand her pain.
(07:20:24 PM) Siren1 left the room (quit: Read error: Connection reset by peer).
(07:20:55 PM) Sutherland: (Debating on watching Life of Brian, or War Games(
(07:20:57 PM) Sutherland: )
(07:21:58 PM) Siren1 [~Jolee@wsip-70-168-193-210.br.br.cox.net] entered the room.
(07:22:03 PM) Siren1: Yay!
(07:22:10 PM) Siren1 is now known as Ink
(07:22:20 PM) Gerhal: Victory.
(07:22:24 PM) Talib: (welcome back)
(07:22:28 PM) Gerhal is now known as Hydrogen
(07:22:32 PM) Ink: Thanks!
(07:23:10 PM) Hydrogen: Okay, let's get this show on the road. I'm tired of reading the fine print on my Jury Summons.
(07:23:24 PM) Talib: (d'oh)
(07:23:52 PM) ***Sutherland looks at his companions and puts a finger to his lips and shhhhs them. He then sneaks out of the tarp they are all hiding under and makes his way to the locked gate.
(07:24:16 PM) Hydrogen: We left off with our crew hiding beneath some camo netting on the truck depot after using the pyro-killbot to destroy the office component of a admin building beneath the prison. The pyro-bot has been destroyed by crippling gunfire, and steel melting heat.
(07:24:43 PM) Hydrogen: Roll me some sneaky, Mr. Sutherland.
(07:25:26 PM) Hydrogen: Soldiers are clustered around the admin building with fire suppression equipment. No one has even though to check the prison, but it's blocked by flame anyways.
(07:25:33 PM) Sutherland: (give me a minute please)
(07:25:57 PM) Talib: (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/freya-jobbins-artist-turns-discarded-1415056)
(07:26:43 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 8
(07:26:44 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 0.
(07:26:54 PM) Sutherland: (ouch)
(07:27:07 PM) Sutherland: (off to a great start)
(07:27:14 PM) Hydrogen: You have 3 edge correct?
(07:27:18 PM) Ink: (creepy!)
(07:28:07 PM) Sutherland: (yes)
(07:28:22 PM) Hydrogen: One of the uses for Edge is the ability to reroll all failed dice in a test. Example:
(07:28:22 PM) Sutherland: (roll it?)
(07:28:35 PM) Hydrogen: Let us say you roll 8 dice, and you get 1 hit.
(07:28:47 PM) Hydrogen: You can use an edge, and reroll the 7 failed dice.
(07:29:05 PM) Hydrogen: You can do that 3 times per mission.
(07:29:27 PM) Hydrogen: But you typically reserve your last point of Edge. You always save that one for the "Hand of God" rule.
(07:29:41 PM) Sutherland: cool...rerolling then.
(07:29:50 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 8
(07:29:50 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 1.
(07:29:55 PM) Ink: Hand of God?
(07:30:04 PM) Sutherland: (good grief)
(07:30:17 PM) Talib: (when you're almost certain to die, you can burn a point of edge to just get horribly maimed)
(07:30:28 PM) Ink: (lol. Lovely)
(07:30:29 PM) Hydrogen: Hand of God is, "GM, please save my character." It is your last ace, and it will lower your Edge stat by 1.
(07:30:44 PM) Hydrogen: So you have to buy that point of Edge back with karma.
(07:31:05 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 4
(07:31:05 PM) Ink: Ahhh
(07:31:05 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.
(07:32:30 PM) Hydrogen: So, Sutherland slinks off toward the fence. An officer notices him headed that way, and starts walking his way.
(07:33:02 PM) Hydrogen: What do you do? Evasive action? Distraction?
(07:33:14 PM) ***Ink looks around at the other guys.
(07:33:42 PM) ***Talib shrugs.
(07:33:45 PM) ***Sutherland slips around the corner of the nearest truck and slips into the back of it as he waits for the officer.
(07:33:56 PM) Hydrogen: Roll another stealth check.
(07:34:04 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 8
(07:34:04 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 5.
(07:34:15 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 6
(07:34:15 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 4.
(07:35:12 PM) Hydrogen: The officer comes around to the back of your truck, and looks around. He checks underneath the truck, and peers into the cab. He checks on some of the other trucks.
(07:35:25 PM) Talib: How's the traffic report lookning, GM? Almost everybody still busy at the fire?
(07:35:57 PM) ***Sutherland slips out after the officer is well out of range and heads on for the fence.
(07:36:07 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 1
(07:36:07 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 0.
(07:36:15 PM) Hydrogen: The fire is still uncontrolled.
(07:36:51 PM) Hydrogen: Reroll the fence stealth, sir!
(07:37:04 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 8
(07:37:04 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 0.
(07:37:11 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 6
(07:37:11 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.
(07:37:16 PM) Sutherland: (Oh jeez!)
(07:37:24 PM) Hydrogen: Bugger! He was waiting for you this time.
(07:37:29 PM) Ink: awww
(07:37:37 PM) Ink: Just kill him.
(07:37:41 PM) Talib: (heh)
(07:37:43 PM) Hydrogen: The officer barks at you almost as soon as you emerge from the trucks.
(07:38:19 PM) ***Sutherland stops and motions the officer over.
(07:39:45 PM) Hydrogen: This is not the expected action. The officer commands an MP who has broken away from the fire line, and they start walking toward Sutherland. The officer has his hand on his holster.
(07:40:44 PM) Talib: We can't see any of this, can we?
(07:41:05 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland can pipe his eye video to you, if he's so chosen.
(07:42:15 PM) ***Talib pings him, "Sitrep?"
(07:42:15 PM) ***Sutherland starts speaking Creole as soon as they get near him...something about the damn weather and how the last kimchi he had is killing him now. As he's bent over and clutching his stomach in pain he makes some gestures for them to help him, which somehow results in two laser beams. One at each.
(07:42:47 PM) Hydrogen: (Did you buy two laser pistol implants?)
(07:43:07 PM) Sutherland: (1, so I'll put it at the officer first)
(07:43:07 PM) Hydrogen: Anyhow, let's do this. Roll for surprise.
(07:43:20 PM) Sutherland: what is it for that? reaction?
(07:43:30 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 6 (officer)
(07:43:30 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 1.
(07:43:31 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 6 (officer)
(07:43:32 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.
(07:43:41 PM) Sutherland: (Talib suddenly gets this on camera feed)
(07:43:43 PM) Hydrogen: (reaction + intuition + reaction boostsers)
(07:44:25 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 8
(07:44:26 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 2.
(07:44:32 PM) ***Talib whispers harshly, "Shit. He's engaged."
(07:44:47 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland, you beat the officer, but not the MP.
(07:44:58 PM) Hydrogen: So, the officer cannot act or dodge. But the MP can.
(07:45:10 PM) Hydrogen: Roll for initiative, everyone.
(07:45:13 PM) ***Ink sighs. "I can go help..."
(07:45:20 PM) Hydrogen: (reaction + intuition)
(07:45:36 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 6 (officer init)
(07:45:37 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 3.
(07:45:43 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 6 (mp init)
(07:45:43 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 4.
(07:45:57 PM) Ink: ,srtest 7
(07:46:05 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 8
(07:46:05 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 5.
(07:46:11 PM) Ink: ,srtest 7
(07:46:11 PM) Clockwork: Ink, hits: 4.
(07:46:36 PM) Talib: ,srtest 8
(07:46:37 PM) Clockwork: Talib, hits: 5.
(07:46:56 PM) Hydrogen: (got it!)
(07:47:04 PM) Hydrogen: (1st round, only Sutherland and the MP)
(07:47:12 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland, your go.
(07:47:36 PM) Hydrogen: (correction, round 1, pass 1)
(07:48:05 PM) Talib: ,srtest 11 (matrix init, in case)
(07:48:06 PM) Clockwork: Talib, hits: 5.
(07:49:11 PM) ***Sutherland points his finger at the officer and *pew pew*.
(07:49:22 PM) Hydrogen: Roll to attack.
(07:49:51 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 6
(07:49:52 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 0.
(07:50:02 PM) Sutherland: (okay. lol I quit)
(07:50:14 PM) Hydrogen: What's your agi, your pistol skill, and you have a smartlink, yes?
(07:50:22 PM) Ink: (Lol. Rough, man.)
(07:50:34 PM) Sutherland: (2 skill, 4 agil, and smartlink)
(07:50:54 PM) Hydrogen: Reroll. You had 2 more dice.
(07:51:10 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 8
(07:51:10 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 3.
(07:51:45 PM) Hydrogen: There you go.
(07:51:58 PM) Hydrogen: You shoot the officer in the chest with your implanted laser pistol.
(07:51:58 PM) Talib: (G's Emprah is a bit of a bastard)
(07:52:28 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 6 (3 body, 6 imp / 2)
(07:52:28 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 0.
(07:52:47 PM) Hydrogen: The laser strikes him in the chest for 8 damage.
(07:53:49 PM) Hydrogen: The MP cries out, and reaches for his holster. He draws a heavy pistol with a laser sight, and fires.
(07:54:00 PM) Hydrogen: oh, wait. I forgot!
(07:54:14 PM) Talib: (hm?)
(07:54:16 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland. You've only taken 1 simple action. You get 2. You can double tap.
(07:55:03 PM) Sutherland: (I don't know what 8 damage equates to)
(07:55:28 PM) Hydrogen: Most people have 10 HP.
(07:55:40 PM) Sutherland: (Ah)
(07:55:41 PM) Hydrogen: A little more, and he's gonna be KO and bleeding out.
(07:56:16 PM) Hydrogen: If you shoot the officer, you roll 8 dice again. If you change targets, it is -2 to attack the MP on the same pass.
(07:56:44 PM) ***Sutherland turns to the MP and fires a second time.
(07:56:51 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 6
(07:56:51 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 0.
(07:56:58 PM) Sutherland: (ah well)
(07:57:08 PM) Hydrogen: Miss!
(07:57:26 PM) Hydrogen: The MP cries out, and reaches for his holster. He draws a heavy pistol with a laser sight, and fires even as Sutherland's 2nd shot misses him.
(07:57:42 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 7
(07:57:43 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 3.
(07:57:59 PM) Hydrogen: It's a hit. Sutherland, you have 2 options.
(07:58:23 PM) Hydrogen: Either roll reaction to avoid damage, or reaction + dodge. But if you use the full dodge, you sacrifice your next pass.
(07:59:55 PM) Sutherland: (I'll roll reaction)
(07:59:57 PM) Hydrogen: You have an armored jacket, or 8 ballistic armor. His pistol is 5, -1. With 3 hits, he's dealing 8, -1, which will bypass your armor. You need 1 hit on your defense roll to take advantage of your drone's immunity to stun damage.
(08:00:30 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 4
(08:00:42 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 2.
(08:01:37 PM) Hydrogen: The .45 cal round hits you right in the chest. It might have cracked a normal's rib, but it means nothing to your steel.
(08:01:57 PM) Hydrogen: He spent 1 simple to draw, 2nd simple to attack.
(08:02:08 PM) Hydrogen: 1st Round, 2nd Pass.
(08:02:15 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland, your action.
(08:03:42 PM) ***Sutherland shoots again at the MP.
(08:03:52 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 8
(08:03:53 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 2.
(08:04:15 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 3 (reaction)
(08:04:15 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 0.
(08:04:18 PM) Hydrogen: Hit!
(08:04:28 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 6 (resist)
(08:04:29 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.
(08:04:42 PM) Hydrogen: Your blaster strikes him in the gut for 5 dmg.
(08:05:03 PM) ***Sutherland fires on him again.
(08:05:12 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 8
(08:05:13 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 3.
(08:05:33 PM) Hydrogen: Now, he's already dodged once this turn. So he's got a penalty for dodging again.
(08:05:37 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 2
(08:05:37 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.
(08:05:42 PM) Hydrogen: Still a hit.
(08:05:53 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 6 (resist)
(08:05:54 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.
(08:06:00 PM) Hydrogen: 4 dmg
(08:06:36 PM) Hydrogen: This time you've shot him in the arm, and he drops his pistol. Both men have been shot up real bad, but they are still alive and standing.
(08:06:51 PM) Hydrogen: Action everyone! 2nd round, 1st pass.
(08:07:09 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland and Talib go first.
(08:07:41 PM) ***Sutherland fires at the Officer once more, then the MP.
(08:07:47 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 8
(08:07:48 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 5.
(08:08:00 PM) Talib: ,srtest 9 (detect nodes)
(08:08:01 PM) Clockwork: Talib, hits: 1.
(08:08:13 PM) Talib: (unless they aren't hidden)
(08:08:16 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 6
(08:08:16 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 1.
(08:09:08 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 4-2 (wound penalty to officer dodge)
(08:09:09 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, make sure you specified the dice pool size correctly.
(08:09:17 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 2 (wound penalty to officer dodge)
(08:09:17 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 0. Critical glitch!
(08:09:43 PM) Hydrogen: The officer tries to charge you right as you aim, and catches a laser blast to the eyeball. His head explodes into flame.
(08:09:57 PM) Hydrogen: Talib searches the net for nodes.
(08:10:05 PM) Talib: "If you're going, he's between two trucks. Presumably towards the fence."
(08:10:39 PM) ***Ink nods.
(08:10:53 PM) ***Talib is observing the feed at free-action level.
(08:11:16 PM) Hydrogen: 2nd shot?
(08:11:27 PM) Sutherland: (perhaps he should have said..."Okay. Stop right there, and I'll bring back the sun." And then pull out his wallet to show his sister)
(08:11:41 PM) Sutherland: uh...it was a result of 1
(08:12:42 PM) Hydrogen: oh
(08:12:43 PM) Hydrogen: Sorry
(08:13:05 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 2 (5-3)
(08:13:06 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 0. Critical glitch!
(08:13:17 PM) Hydrogen: Man, Clockwork is a bastard.
(08:13:29 PM) Hydrogen: Two flaming eyeball brain shots in a row.
(08:13:43 PM) Talib: "They're down."
(08:14:23 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland's weapon is silent, but the pistol shot he took to the chest is not.
(08:14:38 PM) ***Ink settles back, looking relieved.
(08:14:40 PM) Hydrogen: Roll Edge, Sutherland, to see how quickly the natives catch on.
(08:15:05 PM) Sutherland: (do I have my 3, or did I lose one for that reroll?)
(08:15:23 PM) Hydrogen: You still have 3. You didn't change your stat. You just spent 1 reroll.
(08:15:28 PM) Talib: (you spent one. two left )
(08:15:29 PM) Hydrogen: You did not use a Hand of God.
(08:15:59 PM) Sutherland: (so uh.....)
(08:16:01 PM) Hydrogen: Edges = rerolls per game. You spent a reroll.
(08:16:13 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 3
(08:16:13 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 0.
(08:16:13 PM) Hydrogen: Edge is unchanged.
(08:16:22 PM) Hydrogen: No glitch.
(08:16:57 PM) Hydrogen: Alright, buddy. You've got two burning bodies. Somebody is going to notice any freaking second know. You can feel the imaginary eyeballs turning on you.
(08:17:41 PM) ***Sutherland dodges between trucks and quickly heads for the gate. No time for whistling casually.
(08:18:06 PM) ***Talib texts, [Chuck 'em in a truck.]
(08:18:18 PM) Talib: [NVM]
(08:18:30 PM) Hydrogen: Alrighty bud. You bolt for the fence.
(08:18:48 PM) Sutherland: actually...gonna swerve back...but it might be too late.
(08:18:48 PM) Talib: "He didn't police the bodies. This could get tricky."
(08:18:52 PM) Hydrogen: Rob bolts out from under the camo to go fetch the bodies.
(08:19:04 PM) Hydrogen: He curses under his breath as he goes.
(08:19:10 PM) ***Ink sighs and rubs his left temple.
(08:19:17 PM) Sutherland: continuing on.
(08:19:43 PM) Hydrogen: Chain link fence. 2 meters high. Coiled razor wire on the top.
(08:20:38 PM) Hydrogen: There are two maglocks on the gate. Once opened, you could roll it open and gain access.
(08:20:51 PM) Hydrogen: The chain isn't fancy. Standard cheap metal.
(08:21:37 PM) ***Sutherland frowns at this.
(08:21:57 PM) Hydrogen: Rob grabs one of the bodies, and tries to make a go at hiding it in a truck.
(08:22:05 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 1
(08:22:05 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 1.
(08:22:09 PM) Hydrogen: He succeeds!
(08:22:17 PM) Hydrogen: Make it quick, friends.
(08:22:44 PM) Talib: ,srtest 9 (scanning for the lock nodes)
(08:22:44 PM) Clockwork: Talib, hits: 3.
(08:23:11 PM) Hydrogen: (what's the TN to find a device you know is there?)
(08:23:15 PM) ***Sutherland watches the maglocks, allowing Talib to see them.
(08:23:46 PM) Hydrogen: (If you touch the maglocks, Talib can hack them through your skinlink network.)
(08:24:20 PM) ***Sutherland touches the first maglock.
(08:24:46 PM) Talib: It's auto-success if they're in range, and not hidden. Vs. Stealth if so.
(08:25:13 PM) Hydrogen: Auto-success when you touch them then.
(08:25:19 PM) Talib: If they're not hidden, that analysis is scanning it
(08:26:10 PM) Hydrogen: Just locks.
(08:26:37 PM) Hydrogen: Rating 4 devices.
(08:26:39 PM) Talib: Did the Officer have a commlink?
(08:27:11 PM) Hydrogen: You'd have to check the truck Rob dumped him in.
(08:27:24 PM) Talib: Eh, we're in a hurry, I guess.
(08:27:34 PM) Hydrogen: I will roll in a couple seconds time to see if he can get the 2nd dude in time.
(08:28:26 PM) Talib: ,srext 9 4 (stealth is 10)
(08:28:27 PM) Clockwork: Talib, success in 1 dice pool rolls and 4 hits total.
(08:28:44 PM) Talib: (hacking on the fly)
(08:28:50 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 8
(08:28:51 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 3.
(08:28:57 PM) Hydrogen: You have access to lock #1.

(08:29:20 PM) Talib: Checking the authorized user list.
(08:29:20 PM) Hydrogen: Son of a gun. 2nd body stashed!
(08:29:32 PM) Hydrogen: Rob hops into the body truck.
(08:29:40 PM) Talib: Looking for an access ID I can use on the second.
(08:29:46 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 1 (Fire Control)
(08:29:47 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 1.
(08:29:56 PM) Hydrogen: The fire in the admin building is now under control.
(08:30:44 PM) Talib: And maybe one good enough to use on the missiles if we get to them.
(08:31:16 PM) Hydrogen: The lock node is utterly bare boned. Nothing but codes, and a hidden login audit registry.
(08:31:59 PM) Talib: Can I open it, or did I forget to get a high enough access?
(08:32:03 PM) ***Ink starts tapping his thumb anxiously.
(08:33:02 PM) Hydrogen: You unlocked it. But you can't view logs, or change codes.
(08:33:15 PM) Talib: Oh well.
(08:33:21 PM) ***Sutherland touches the next lock.
(08:33:37 PM) Talib: ,srext 9 4
(08:33:38 PM) Clockwork: Talib, success in 2 dice pool rolls and 5 hits total.
(08:33:53 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 8

(08:33:56 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 8
(08:33:57 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.
(08:34:00 PM) Hydrogen: Unlocked!
(08:34:12 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland, your ally has unlocked both maglocks.
(08:34:19 PM) Talib: "Got it." [Got it.]
(08:34:43 PM) ***Ink nods. "Now what?"
(08:34:54 PM) Hydrogen: Roll perception, Sutherland.
(08:35:09 PM) Talib: "We hope he can get to the launcher."
(08:35:15 PM) Sutherland: That is uh....?
(08:35:23 PM) Sutherland: int?
(08:35:30 PM) Sutherland: oh wait..my sensors
(08:35:39 PM) Ink: "Mm....."
(08:36:01 PM) Talib: (plus whatever you put into the skill)
(08:37:08 PM) Sutherland: hmmm....uh.....3 I guess. sensor of 3 with an onboard response of 4
(08:37:30 PM) Hydrogen: It's your intuition + awareness.
(08:37:35 PM) Hydrogen: err, perception skill
(08:37:52 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 4
(08:37:53 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 1.
(08:38:17 PM) Hydrogen: Uh oh! Some soldiers have noticed you at the gate.
(08:38:40 PM) Hydrogen: You also notice a little shack like thing attached to one of the launchers.
(08:38:45 PM) Hydrogen: It has a door.
(08:38:54 PM) Hydrogen: Ink, Talib, roll perception.
(08:39:05 PM) Talib: ,srtest 4
(08:39:06 PM) Clockwork: Talib, hits: 2.
(08:39:24 PM) Ink: ,srtest 12
(08:39:25 PM) Clockwork: Ink, hits: 5.
(08:40:10 PM) Hydrogen: Ink, sense that Sutherland's going to get flanked by soldiers once he's behind that fence.
(08:40:24 PM) Hydrogen: But you could in turn flank on the soldiers as they try to flank him.
(08:40:43 PM) Ink: All righty.
(08:40:47 PM) Ink: Will do.
(08:40:49 PM) Hydrogen: You'll have to risk leaving camo though, in order to get into position to provide cover fire.
(08:41:43 PM) Talib: "Our distraction is over. They may be dispatching patrols again soon."
(08:42:18 PM) ***Ink nods. I'll do my best sneak to get around behind the ambushers.
(08:42:21 PM) Hydrogen: Tick tock tick tock!
(08:42:48 PM) Hydrogen: Soldiers are moving in your direction, Sutherland.
(08:43:51 PM) ***Sutherland slides the gate open and closes it, but not enough for the locks to take affect. He slips in between the missiles and makes his way to the shack. He examines the door once there.
(08:44:22 PM) Ink: ,srtest 6 to infiltrate
(08:44:22 PM) Clockwork: Ink, hits: 1. Glitch!
(08:44:28 PM) Ink: ....
(08:44:42 PM) Hydrogen: Moving into the fenced area is the final tell. The soldiers raise rifles, and start to sprint. Men are screaming in korean.
(08:45:11 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 6 (perc)
(08:45:11 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.
(08:45:27 PM) Hydrogen: An MP catches a glipse of Ink moving through the trucks.
(08:45:33 PM) ***Sutherland slings his AR around and kneels down aiming at the closest soldier.
(08:45:55 PM) Hydrogen: Roll initiative, people!
(08:46:12 PM) Talib: ,srtest 11 (matrix)
(08:46:13 PM) Clockwork: Talib, hits: 5.

(08:47:05 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 3.

(08:48:01 PM) Hydrogen: The Dice giveth, the dice taketh.
(08:48:21 PM) Hydrogen: Round 1, Pass 1.
(08:48:27 PM) Hydrogen: Talib.
(08:48:49 PM) Talib: What nodes are within range of Sutherland?
(08:49:49 PM) Hydrogen: Cabin door lock. Rating 6.
(08:50:46 PM) Talib: ,srext 9 12 (hack attempt)
(08:50:47 PM) Clockwork: Talib, success in 5 dice pool rolls and 12 hits total.
(08:50:59 PM) Talib: (bugger, so I'm tied up for a while)
(08:51:05 PM) Hydrogen: (uh oh)
(08:51:23 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 12
(08:51:23 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.

(08:51:27 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 12
(08:51:28 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 4.
(08:52:04 PM) Hydrogen: It breaks your stealth on the 3rd pass. I'll figure out what that means when we get there.
(08:52:40 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland, you've got six soldiers approaching you at medium range. -2 to hit unless you take a simple aim action.
(08:53:04 PM) Hydrogen: You can take cover to increase your effective armor, and/or become harder to hit.
(08:53:30 PM) Hydrogen: Or, you can use suppressive fire.
(08:53:43 PM) Hydrogen: And force them to go prone or scatter or risk taking a hit.
(08:54:02 PM) Hydrogen: Taking cover is a move action, and therefore free.
(08:54:45 PM) Talib: (I don't think the detection results are cumulative)
(08:55:23 PM) ***Sutherland moves back to the far edge of the shed from them. Let them shoot at the missile all they want. He then slings the AR out keeping atleast half his body concealed and fires on the first soldier.
(08:55:42 PM) Hydrogen: (they are when breaking in. All this means is that there is an alert on the lock. You aren't locked out or anything.)
(08:56:04 PM) Hydrogen: (It gets a bonus when trying to attack you once you break in.)
(08:56:43 PM) Talib: Ah.
(08:56:48 PM) Hydrogen: Okay. You spend 1 simple to ready weapon.
(08:56:54 PM) Hydrogen: Another to fire at -2.
(08:57:25 PM) Sutherland: (so 9, cause it would be 11 with the smartlink)
(08:57:31 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 9
(08:57:45 PM) Hydrogen: Take the shot.
(08:57:45 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 4.
(08:58:30 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 5
(08:58:31 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.
(08:58:49 PM) Hydrogen: The soldier sees you swing the rifle at him, and sacrifices his actions to dodge!
(08:59:02 PM) Hydrogen: But it's not enough to avoid your crack aim.
(08:59:40 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 10 (3+8-1 body ballistic AK armor pen)
(08:59:40 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.
(08:59:56 PM) Hydrogen: He takes 6 damage as you peg him solidly in the knee.
(09:00:18 PM) Hydrogen: Ink!
(09:00:28 PM) Ink: Me!
(09:00:30 PM) Hydrogen: You have been spotted by an MP on the way to assist Sutherland.
(09:00:41 PM) Hydrogen: He's going to flank you while you flank the flankers.
(09:00:48 PM) Hydrogen: What do you do?
(09:01:12 PM) Ink: Ahh. Meet the MP first, in a hidden-ish area, if possible.
(09:02:10 PM) Hydrogen: You could move, and then hold action to shoot him as he fatal funnel's his way past a corner.
(09:02:24 PM) Ink: Sounds good to me!
(09:02:54 PM) Hydrogen: Ink moves into position...
(09:03:35 PM) Hydrogen: Rob isn't content to just let 6 soldiers swarm all over Sutherland. he thumbs a frag, and throws it!
(09:03:44 PM) Hydrogen: (totally making this up)
(09:03:51 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 3
(09:03:51 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 0.
(09:03:55 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 3
(09:03:55 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 1.
(09:04:08 PM) Hydrogen: He sorta gets it in the neighborhood.
(09:04:19 PM) Hydrogen: A soldier cries out, "Grenade!!!"
(09:04:27 PM) Hydrogen: BOOOOM
(09:04:38 PM) Talib: ,srnade
(09:04:39 PM) Clockwork: Talib, the projectile bounced back from the target for 2 meters.
(09:05:19 PM) Hydrogen: It lands behind their advancing line, and all the men dive for cover taking full defensive action.
(09:05:31 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 5 (averaging)
(09:05:31 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.
(09:06:03 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 10 (4+6)
(09:06:03 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 5.
(09:06:37 PM) Hydrogen: They get rattled, but don't take any serious injuries. But at least they are prone, and lose 1 round of shooting.
(09:07:03 PM) Hydrogen: The MP comes around the corner with an MP7...
(09:07:08 PM) Hydrogen: Ink! Attack!
(09:07:13 PM) Ink: Yeah!
(09:07:40 PM) Ink: wait, longarms?
(09:08:13 PM) Hydrogen: For a shotgun, yeah
(09:08:22 PM) Ink: ,srtest 8
(09:08:22 PM) Clockwork: Ink, hits: 3.
(09:08:39 PM) Hydrogen: Agi + skill + spec bonus (if any) + smartlink
(09:09:04 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 3
(09:09:04 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 3.
(09:09:06 PM) Ink: Do I have a smartlink on my gun?
(09:09:08 PM) Hydrogen: Yes.
(09:09:27 PM) Hydrogen: Add +2
(09:10:33 PM) Ink: Okay, my bad. Um.... It has just occurred to me that I'm not sure when my adept powers come into play. I have combat sense
(09:10:59 PM) Hydrogen: That's for dodging.
(09:11:13 PM) Ink: Okay.
(09:11:15 PM) Ink: So!
(09:11:18 PM) Ink: ,srtest 10
(09:11:18 PM) Clockwork: Ink, hits: 3.
(09:11:22 PM) Ink: ...
(09:11:44 PM) Hydrogen: Maybe use a reroll? You need at least 1 more hit to peg him.
(09:11:53 PM) Hydrogen: You get to reroll 7 dice
(09:11:57 PM) Ink: Okay.
(09:12:00 PM) Ink: ,srtest 7
(09:12:00 PM) Clockwork: Ink, hits: 3.
(09:12:02 PM) Talib: (I though Ink took the one with the laser sinve she doesn't have cyber)
(09:12:08 PM) Hydrogen: Oh snap.
(09:12:18 PM) Hydrogen: (smart goggles, as I recall)
(09:12:24 PM) Hydrogen: (Anyhow)
(09:12:25 PM) Talib: (ah, right)
(09:12:37 PM) Hydrogen: Okay, buckshot shotgun.
(09:13:01 PM) Hydrogen: 7+2+3 hits = 12 dmg. +4 to impact armor
(09:13:35 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 11 (3+4+4)
(09:13:38 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 6.
(09:14:08 PM) Hydrogen: You nail him right in the chest wear his ballistic vest shrugs off half the blow, but he's got some serious chest bruising.
(09:14:26 PM) Hydrogen: He turns his smg on you.
(09:14:32 PM) Ink: Uh oh
(09:15:12 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 5 (3+3+1-2 laser sight, wounds)
(09:15:13 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 0.
(09:15:19 PM) Hydrogen: (Seriously?)
(09:15:37 PM) Hydrogen: His first narrow burst shreds part of the truck behind you.
(09:15:45 PM) Ink: Phew!
(09:16:08 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 3 (3+3+1-2-2 laser sight, wounds, uncompensated recoil)
(09:16:09 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 0.
(09:16:22 PM) Hydrogen: It's like a Scarface movie scene.
(09:16:37 PM) Ink: Man
(09:16:38 PM) Hydrogen: His second narrow burst destroys a tail light.
(09:16:51 PM) Ink: Lucky....
(09:16:57 PM) Hydrogen: Round 1, 2nd Pass.
(09:17:03 PM) Sutherland: (say hello to my little friend)
(09:17:03 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland.
(09:18:42 PM) ***Sutherland fires at the next soldier as he waits for the others to get closer. He fires another burst.
(09:19:52 PM) Hydrogen: They are prone. -2 for range, -2 for prone target. -2 for skill penalty on your rifle. Do you have vision magnification to reduce the distance penalty?
(09:20:02 PM) Sutherland: no
(09:20:11 PM) Sutherland: well, unless the sensors do
(09:20:52 PM) Hydrogen: Nope
(09:21:05 PM) Sutherland: so 5 dice
(09:21:10 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 5
(09:21:10 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 3.
(09:21:23 PM) Hydrogen: ho ho!
(09:22:07 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 3 (hugging the ground, full dodge, but at penalty)
(09:22:07 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 1.
(09:22:26 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 10 (resist)
(09:22:26 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 3.
(09:23:09 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland nails the man in the arm with a solid shot, but he's still crawling.
(09:23:43 PM) ***Sutherland shoots again.
(09:23:54 PM) Sutherland: (burst is still a simple, yes?)
(09:25:05 PM) Hydrogen: (It is. But you've got recoil to consider. -2 (I know the math) for a narrow burst on your second shot. +2 dmg though)
(09:25:20 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 3
(09:25:20 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 1.
(09:25:49 PM) Hydrogen: Same target?
(09:25:54 PM) Sutherland: (Sutherland has a 6 strength, does that help?)
(09:26:00 PM) Sutherland: (same target)
(09:26:06 PM) Hydrogen: (Gives you 1 more die)
(09:26:14 PM) Hydrogen: (STR 6 = 1 point of recoil comp)
(09:26:26 PM) Sutherland: (rolling that 1 dice)
(09:26:30 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 1
(09:26:31 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 0.
(09:26:38 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 1 (so, so many penalties)
(09:26:38 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 1.
(09:26:50 PM) Hydrogen: Your narrow burst sails over his head.
(09:27:20 PM) Hydrogen: Talib, you are still hacking and sense the lock alarm go off.
(09:27:30 PM) Hydrogen: It's a race, and the IC is gonna be hot.
(09:28:03 PM) Hydrogen: Inky
(09:28:29 PM) Hydrogen: You've got a wounded, and desperate MP in front of you
(09:28:34 PM) Ink: shoot again!
(09:29:06 PM) Ink: Um, so do I get a bonus with the laser?
(09:29:17 PM) Talib: Taking my three passes (if we wanna roll them all together for expediency). I gain admin access on pass 5, leaving me one more and I wanna flip back to AR and meatspeed.
(09:29:32 PM) Talib: for next round
(09:29:37 PM) Hydrogen: (ok)
(09:29:58 PM) Hydrogen: You get +1 for a laser, +2 for smartlink. But they don't stack.
(09:30:13 PM) Ink: Okay.
(09:30:17 PM) Ink: ,srtest 9
(09:30:18 PM) Clockwork: Ink, hits: 5.
(09:30:56 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 4 (wounded, full dodge)
(09:30:56 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.
(09:31:07 PM) Hydrogen: 7+2+3 = 12 dmg
(09:31:33 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 11 (3+4+4)
(09:31:34 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 3.
(09:32:10 PM) Hydrogen: You shoot him in the hip, below his vest. His right leg collapses in a red mist, and he drops with a scream.
(09:32:37 PM) Hydrogen: You can now move safely to provide cover fire.
(09:32:55 PM) ***Ink cringes a little but proceeds.
(09:33:33 PM) Hydrogen: Rob chucks another grenade
(09:33:49 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 3
(09:33:49 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.
(09:33:51 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 3
(09:33:52 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 0. Critical glitch!
(09:33:57 PM) Hydrogen: ,srgren
(09:34:00 PM) Ink: Everybody dies.
(09:34:13 PM) Talib: (srnade)
(09:34:17 PM) Hydrogen: ,srnade
(09:34:17 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, the projectile bounced back from the target and to the right for 6 meters.
(09:34:51 PM) Hydrogen: Rob throws his grenade at another pack of soldiers. It beans a man right in the head, and rolls underneath a truck.
(09:34:55 PM) Hydrogen: BOOOOOOM
(09:35:28 PM) Hydrogen: No soldiers down, but Rambo would be proud.
(09:36:17 PM) Ink: (my brother says hi)
(09:36:26 PM) Hydrogen: (He's awake?)
(09:36:45 PM) Ink: (Apparently. Lol. I'm chatting with him currently.)
(09:36:53 PM) Sutherland: (Hey to him too!)
(09:37:46 PM) Hydrogen: Alright, so. The first pack of 6 that pinned down get to take their shots at Sutherland.
(09:38:00 PM) Hydrogen: Two will try suppressive fire.
(09:38:17 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 7
(09:38:18 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.
(09:38:19 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 7
(09:38:20 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 2.
(09:38:50 PM) Hydrogen: Okay, Sutherland. Here's how suppressive fire works.
(09:39:03 PM) Hydrogen: So, you create a 90 degree hurt zone.
(09:39:25 PM) Hydrogen: Everybody in that cone must dodge their hits, or take 1 bullet for the gun's base damage.
(09:39:35 PM) Hydrogen: An AK deals 6, -1 armor.
(09:39:50 PM) Hydrogen: So, you would normally have 2 dodge rolls here.
(09:40:35 PM) Hydrogen: Thing is, flesh is weak. You are not. At 6, -1, they can't deal physical damage to you. It's all stun. You can straight up soak their pitiful suppressive fire with your armor jacket, and your cover.
(09:40:38 PM) Sutherland: But I'm halfway sticking out from the edge of the shed? I sure in the hell ain't going to dodge away from the shed.
(09:41:07 PM) Hydrogen: Isn't being a cyborg freakin' cool?
(09:41:19 PM) Sutherland: So far it is.
(09:41:59 PM) Hydrogen: Talib, you can see through your link as Sutherland is taking direct fire, and sustaining hits. You even see him flinch as a round takes him in the cheek.
(09:42:23 PM) Sutherland: (Gonna need a lot of spray paint)
(09:42:26 PM) Hydrogen: The other four will risk more focused fire.
(09:42:47 PM) Hydrogen: They take aim, and make narrow bursts. (aim simple, then fire)
(09:43:17 PM) Talib: .oO (That's weird.)
(09:43:31 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 4 (3+4-2-1)
(09:43:32 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 0. Critical glitch!
(09:43:35 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 4 (3+4-2-1)
(09:43:36 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 1.

(09:44:30 PM) Hydrogen: Two men miss.
(09:44:38 PM) Hydrogen: Another has 1 hit on you, Sutherland.
(09:45:16 PM) Hydrogen: You may use reaction to evade that hit, or full dodge.
(09:45:29 PM) Sutherland: (reaction)
(09:46:09 PM) Hydrogen: Roll the bones.
(09:46:18 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 4
(09:46:18 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 1. Glitch!
(09:46:28 PM) Hydrogen: Evaded!
(09:46:51 PM) Hydrogen: You duck just in time, and the final marksman shoot's your hat clean off your head.
(09:46:59 PM) Hydrogen: It may have miffed your perfect hair.
(09:47:46 PM) ***Sutherland lets out a low whistle, "They mean business it would seem."
(09:48:23 PM) Hydrogen: (have I missed anybody?)
(09:48:29 PM) Hydrogen: Round 2, 2nd Pass.
(09:48:41 PM) Hydrogen: (Talib finally gets access to the lock.)
(09:50:35 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland?
(09:51:53 PM) Talib: (actually, retcon. wanna suppress the alert with my third pass. I'll flip back to AR if that doesn't work next round.)
(09:52:37 PM) Hydrogen: (you won't be able to suppress it until you get into the node)
(09:53:03 PM) ***Sutherland aims around the corner again and fires at another soldier. The one with the bum knee.
(09:53:03 PM) Talib: (hack on the fly automatically logs you on with whatever access level you gave yourself)
(09:53:20 PM) Hydrogen: (right)
(09:53:35 PM) Talib: (so I'm in at the end of pass 5)
(09:53:42 PM) ***Sutherland says to himself, "I hope they are doing something about this shack or the missiles."
(09:53:45 PM) Hydrogen: (Right. Gotcha)
(09:54:05 PM) Hydrogen: Are you holding action, Sutherland?
(09:54:48 PM) Sutherland: (sure. scratch that aiming around the corner thing.)
(09:55:04 PM) Hydrogen: Inky!
(09:56:01 PM) Ink: Hai!
(09:56:13 PM) Hydrogen: Your turn
(09:56:59 PM) Ink: Going to help out Sutherland. Are there targets for me?
(09:57:41 PM) Hydrogen: Yup. 6 soldiers pinned in a semi-open field. You have cover from some trucks. Rob seems to be annoying additional packs of soldiers.
(09:57:44 PM) Hydrogen: Roll perception
(09:59:22 PM) Ink: ,srtest 12
(09:59:22 PM) Clockwork: Ink, hits: 7.
(09:59:41 PM) Ink: Oh wait, do I get an improved perc bonus?
(09:59:46 PM) Hydrogen: Yes

(10:00:01 PM) Clockwork: Ink, hits: 2.
(10:00:06 PM) Ink: Whoops.
(10:00:11 PM) Ink: ,srtest 14
(10:00:12 PM) Clockwork: Ink, hits: 4.
(10:00:35 PM) Ink: Goodness. All that trouble and I should have just stuck with the first one.
(10:01:33 PM) Hydrogen: Uh-oh. You can see a crew moving from a fire trucks fetch heavy weapons. Worse yet, you can see one of the artillery guns from the other side of the camp turning. What could they... would they... dare they fire on their own base with smart shells?
(10:02:37 PM) Hydrogen: So, those are the threats in order of immediacy.
(10:02:45 PM) ***Ink slows his jog to consider these things.... Hmm....
(10:03:44 PM) Ink: Okay, I believe I have one grenade. That'll go to the heavy weapons crew. If possible, I will then alert Sutherland to alert Talib to the missile concern.
(10:04:11 PM) Hydrogen: (okay. You will want to save that grenade until they come into range)
(10:04:34 PM) Hydrogen: (Which is a long time in combat round speak)
(10:05:09 PM) Ink: (Okie dokie, noted.)
(10:05:52 PM) Hydrogen: (ugh, combat takes longer than you want in new systems. Sorry to drag out guys. I'm getting tired. Push! Push!)
(10:06:07 PM) Talib: (s'okay)
(10:06:30 PM) Ink: (no prob.)
(10:06:41 PM) Talib: (though I'm afraid I'm gonna have to set a hard limit at 11PM. Gotta get up at 4:30-4:45)
(10:06:46 PM) Hydrogen: (Any action other than movement then, Ink?)
(10:07:39 PM) Ink: If I had a smartlink I would send my visual to Talib, but I don't believe I do, so.... I guess I'm good.
(10:08:11 PM) Sutherland: so...alerting Sutherland of the missile concern?
(10:08:16 PM) Hydrogen: Rob lays down some suppressing fire.
(10:08:28 PM) Hydrogen: (artillery concern)
(10:08:45 PM) Hydrogen: 2nd Round, 3rd Pass. Talib?
(10:08:57 PM) Hydrogen: You are logged into the cabin lock.
(10:09:27 PM) Talib: Simple action: cancel alert
(10:09:37 PM) Hydrogen: Roll an exploit check.
(10:09:50 PM) Talib: I'm admin. Do i need to fake it?
(10:10:03 PM) Talib: (that's why the extended test thresh was so high)
(10:10:20 PM) Ink: (ah, and yes to alerting Sutherland, if I'm in view)
(10:10:41 PM) Hydrogen: (alright, you turn off the alert. It is just a lock)
(10:10:54 PM) Talib: Second simple: open
(10:11:07 PM) Hydrogen: Disengaged.
(10:11:15 PM) Talib: [Shack's open.] (free action)
(10:11:21 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland, you had a held action at the shack is now open.
(10:13:06 PM) ***Sutherland busts into the shack and looks around to see what he can do. "If you can notice this, Talib..." He makes sure to keep an eye out for soldiers.
(10:14:43 PM) Hydrogen: When you open the door there is just enough space for one man. There is a ladder on the opposite wall, and it leads underground. The door itself was camoflaged from the outside. On the inside, it is a heavily armored bulkhead, and it is stubbornly difficult to move. You can seal it, and then slide down the ladder.
(10:15:29 PM) ***Sutherland blinks...."Missile command?"
(10:15:36 PM) Hydrogen: But sealing it might also cut Talib off from you.
(10:17:34 PM) Hydrogen: Round 3, Pass 1.
(10:17:38 PM) Hydrogen: Talib?
(10:18:11 PM) Talib: Any new nodes now that he's inside?
(10:18:20 PM) Talib: ,srtest 9 (analysis)
(10:18:20 PM) Clockwork: Talib, hits: 5.
(10:18:42 PM) Talib: Looking for hidden nodes, on top of the ones I auto-detect.
(10:19:19 PM) Hydrogen: Indeed. There is a node down there.
(10:20:07 PM) Talib: ,srtest 9 (examining)
(10:20:07 PM) Clockwork: Talib, hits: 4.
(10:20:52 PM) Hydrogen: Fire Control. Or a very convincing honey pot.
(10:21:39 PM) Talib: [Go inside. Need you to touch the hardware.]
(10:21:51 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland's turn.
(10:23:05 PM) ***Sutherland slings his AR on his shoulder and slides down the ladder, feet on the outside and hands keeping hold till he hits the bottom and slings the AR back out to take a look at his surroundings.
(10:23:41 PM) Hydrogen: Roll perception, Mr. Sutherland. 4 dice as I recall.
(10:23:55 PM) Hydrogen: Talib can roll as well, through his feed.
(10:24:00 PM) Sutherland: ,srtest 4
(10:24:00 PM) Clockwork: Sutherland, hits: 2.
(10:24:08 PM) Talib: ,srtest 4
(10:24:08 PM) Clockwork: Talib, hits: 0.
(10:24:23 PM) Talib: (damn. somebody replaced your eyes with webcams)
(10:25:28 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland sees a manual interface plate, and he can see a diagram of sorts on another panel with a transparent LED overlay. It looks like there are tanks of some kind beneath the missiles. You've seen something like this before from your time as an astronaut.
(10:26:32 PM) Sutherland: (fuel and rockets?)
(10:26:48 PM) Hydrogen: Back in your rocket days, you remembered the training sessions on anti-matter based engines. All anti-matter is produced by Hydrogen, a.k.a. the First, a.k.a. the Laughing God. Nobody is quite sure how It does it, but Hydrogen finances all its worldly concerns through anti-matter reactors, and very rarely ships the stuff directly.
(10:27:45 PM) Hydrogen: And when it is used as rocket fuel, it is almost always stored outside the rocket before launch. Rockets are too fragile as far as containers go. The anti-matter fuel for these rockets, and the warheads, are injected seconds before launch by a pump system.
(10:27:46 PM) ***Sutherland touches the controls, "We have hydrogen tanks...which means anti-matter engines."
(10:28:29 PM) Hydrogen: Those tanks are presently around you behind a couple inches of armor and shielding.
(10:29:49 PM) Talib: (that was capital-H Hydrogen. )
(10:30:33 PM) Talib: (though I suppose anti-hydrogen would be the simplest anti-matter to generate)
(10:31:01 PM) Sutherland: "Can you hear me Talib?"
(10:32:33 PM) Talib: ["Yeah. Can you work the pump?"]
(10:33:29 PM) Sutherland: "I can. We can also bleed the tanks, but in that case I hope everyone has made peace with their Gods because this entire place would be a mile wide crater....no missiles though."
(10:34:02 PM) Hydrogen: Ink, your turn while the techs debate!
(10:34:06 PM) Talib: ["At this point, a BDH moment may be all we can hope for."]
(10:34:19 PM) Ink: Can I grenade?
(10:34:34 PM) Hydrogen: (I think you have one? Did you write it down?)
(10:35:00 PM) Talib: (there were three. Rob had two and used them. Ink took one, too)
(10:35:10 PM) Hydrogen: (Then Ink has one)
(10:35:20 PM) Hydrogen: Another thing, Sutherland.
(10:35:39 PM) Hydrogen: You know the missiles themselves are expendable. The anti-matter fuel and warheads are what count.
(10:35:59 PM) Ink: (I have one, am I in range to use it?)
(10:36:08 PM) Hydrogen: Yup.
(10:36:28 PM) Hydrogen: ,srnade
(10:36:28 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, the projectile bounced back from the target and to the left for 2 meters.
(10:36:34 PM) Hydrogen: (roll to reduce scatter)
(10:36:58 PM) Ink: (what am I rolling?)
(10:37:07 PM) Hydrogen: Agi + thrown weapon skill
(10:37:35 PM) Ink: -1 for no skill?
(10:37:47 PM) Hydrogen: Yes.
(10:38:04 PM) Ink: ,srtest 3
(10:38:04 PM) Clockwork: Ink, hits: 1.
(10:38:59 PM) Hydrogen: It's practically spot on. Inky hurls that grenade with detonate on impact mode active. The enemy soldiers attempt to scatter.
(10:39:33 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 3
(10:39:34 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 0.

(10:39:44 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 5
(10:39:45 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 1.
(10:40:03 PM) Hydrogen: The two wounded men just can't rally the strength, and die in the explosion.
(10:40:31 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 9
(10:40:31 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 3.
(10:40:32 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 9

(10:40:55 PM) Hydrogen: ,srtest 5
(10:40:55 PM) Clockwork: Hydrogen, hits: 0. Critical glitch!
(10:41:26 PM) Hydrogen: And yet another one, the sixth, who was unwounded catches a lethal piece of flak to the neck, and goes down.
(10:41:42 PM) Ink: All right.
(10:41:43 PM) Hydrogen: Three remain, and they are battered.
(10:42:28 PM) Hydrogen: (I'm fudging a little here to make grenades more lethal sense they usually just "tickle" in standard SR rules.)
(10:42:56 PM) Ink: (I'll take it!)
(10:43:26 PM) Hydrogen: Rob changes magazines, and continues laying down fire while some counter snipers try to dislodge him from his position. More soldiers move around the base.
(10:43:43 PM) Hydrogen: (Remember, this is action movie rules Sci-fi SR)
(10:44:11 PM) Hydrogen: The three soldiers...
(10:44:19 PM) Hydrogen: Oh, they dodged. No actions for them.
(10:44:38 PM) Hydrogen: Round 3, Pass 2
(10:45:03 PM) Hydrogen: (This is why grenades and suppressive fire are useful. It's crowd control.)
(10:45:15 PM) Hydrogen: (You take away their actions by forcing them into defensive posture.)
(10:45:50 PM) Hydrogen: Talib!
(10:46:08 PM) ***Talib looks for controls to the pump system.
(10:46:11 PM) Talib: ,srtest 9
(10:46:12 PM) Clockwork: Talib, hits: 2.
(10:46:47 PM) ***Sutherland estimates the window of escape before the place blew sky high.
(10:48:03 PM) Hydrogen: Ah, there it is. Nothing is hidden in this system. As you scan the interface you see glimmers and fragments of a high order. Pieces of this system still have a kind of residue on them. Elemental programming. It's not everywhere, but pieces here and there.
(10:49:05 PM) Hydrogen: Roll me matrix knowledge, Talib. Something, anything that would indicate an understanding of AI psychology.
(10:49:31 PM) Hydrogen: design philosophy
(10:50:00 PM) Talib: I have security design, electrical engineering, and drone design
(10:50:10 PM) Hydrogen: Roll security design.
(10:50:17 PM) Talib: ,srtest 9
(10:50:18 PM) Clockwork: Talib, hits: 4.
(10:50:52 PM) Talib: (also gaming and trid shows)
(10:52:08 PM) Hydrogen: This weapon was not built for humanity. It was built to defend against Humanity. It should not be here, and the fact that it is in North Korean hands is a violation of its purpose. This kind of technology should have a self destruct mechanism, and the easiest way to trigger it is just to make it realize that Humanity has stolen it.
(10:53:02 PM) Talib: (/me tries the password PASSWORD)
(10:54:50 PM) Hydrogen: (Is that your turn, Talib? Or thinking?)
(10:55:09 PM) Talib: Yeah. Let's make it my turn. Why not.
(10:55:16 PM) Hydrogen: (Sutherland is your walking USB port and wireless router.)
(10:55:25 PM) Hydrogen: (Anything to add, Sutherland?)
(10:55:44 PM) Talib: [Find the controls and type in 'password' as your access.]
(10:56:08 PM) Sutherland: "I feel that pulling the plug and sending us all sky high is the best option, Talib. Searching for controls now though."
(10:56:27 PM) ***Sutherland looks for them so he can type in the password..which is probably in Korean.
(10:56:44 PM) Talib: (alternatively, 12345)
(10:57:12 PM) Sutherland: (That's crazy! I have the same combination on my luggage!)
(10:57:19 PM) Hydrogen: The touch panel is an AR keyboard.
(10:57:22 PM) Talib: (=) )
(10:58:55 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland tries working with the login prompts, and after the third attempt a lens pops open over the console.
(10:59:25 PM) ***Sutherland brings up the keyboard, and attempts the password.
(10:59:40 PM) Hydrogen: It is a deep red eye in a black socket. "Invalid logins detected. Analyzing."
(10:59:59 PM) Talib: [Smile for the camera.]
(11:00:19 PM) ***Sutherland gives it his goofiest smile.
(11:00:21 PM) Hydrogen: (Rivet, you turn into a pumpkin right now, irght?)
(11:00:37 PM) Sutherland: (probably the buddy-christ smile)
(11:00:50 PM) Talib: (eh. my dedication to seeing the story end trumps it. I can sleep when I'm dead. Or my shift is over. Whichever.)
(11:01:32 PM) Talib: (I'm just gonna be shifting boxes, not doing differential equations)
(11:02:00 PM) Hydrogen: "Invalid user detected. Negociating response with Administrator... Failure. Failure. Unable to contact Administrator."
(11:03:21 PM) Hydrogen: As this goes on, Rob is forced to abandon his position as a withering quantity of weapons fire starts pouring into the truck yard. A couple 50 cal rounds penetrate Talib's cover, and punch through a truck tire near his leg.
(11:04:13 PM) Hydrogen: "Analyzing failure to contact Administrator."
(11:04:31 PM) Talib: "Yeep!"
(11:05:06 PM) Hydrogen: Think of something clever.
(11:07:04 PM) ***Sutherland looks about and calculates the situation. He says, "No good." He begins thinking through the process of detonating the anti-matter. "I am sorry. I am planning on initiating a self destruct. I highly suggest you obtain a vehicle and get the hell out, unless you feel there is a better option."
(11:07:42 PM) Sutherland: (What would be the time zone for escape?)
(11:07:46 PM) Talib: ["No, that's the idea, think."]
(11:08:30 PM) Hydrogen: (Getting out of the blast radius on foot is implausible. Vehicle would be the only way.)
(11:08:58 PM) Hydrogen: (There is a base perimeter, a moat, and then jungle to contend with)
(11:09:13 PM) Sutherland: (right...but what I'm asking is would someone have to stay with the bomb?)
(11:09:45 PM) Hydrogen: (If you could find a way to do a time delay, no.)
(11:11:15 PM) Sutherland: (roll to determine a way?)
(11:11:26 PM) ***Talib analyses the node.
(11:11:29 PM) Talib: ,srtest 9
(11:11:30 PM) Clockwork: Talib, hits: 4.
(11:11:40 PM) Hydrogen: (Ok, we're stalling out. It's late, and we're talking too long to think. One last push!)
(11:12:04 PM) Ink: (I'm in favor of blowing it up)
(11:12:22 PM) Talib: (yeah, honestly, we're thinking of just blowing it and being done. With the whole base on alert, getting away in a stolen truck doesn't seem too likely)
(11:12:53 PM) Talib: (and if we left enough of a count-down anyway, someone with legit access could come in and just shut it down.)
(11:13:17 PM) Hydrogen: While analyzing the node, Talib finds some more information. He finds that there are some other nodes here that control the containment. It looks like that some of them use multiversal technology to generate the containment field. And those devices should be accessible right.... there!
(11:14:15 PM) Ink: All right
(11:14:17 PM) Ink: !
(11:14:21 PM) Hydrogen: If you could shut down the device, that would do the trick. But it is so heavily armored. You need something that could just turn it off. Something like...
(11:14:26 PM) Hydrogen: A Resistor.
(11:16:03 PM) Talib: (I'm not certain how that would work. Would Sutherland just have to stick his hand in, would I have to haxor the gibson?)
(11:16:49 PM) Hydrogen: (All he'd have to do is touch it. That's what Resistors do. Your presence, your touch inhibits that kind of technology.)
(11:17:06 PM) Talib: ["It's using MV tech to hold the fuel. Find the vessel and lay your hands on it."]
(11:17:37 PM) ***Sutherland looks for the vessel.
(11:17:56 PM) ***Talib highlights the controls in AR
(11:18:03 PM) Hydrogen: You see it Sutherland. It looks like the food disposal unit on the bottom on your sink.
(11:18:41 PM) Talib: ["Rob and Ink are gonna be pissed for about a nanosecond."]
(11:18:52 PM) ***Sutherland reaches in and touches it, "Do your thing."
(11:20:32 PM) Talib: (sorry for the slow processing. I didn't realize we were like Blanks on top of everything else.)
(11:21:26 PM) Hydrogen: Sutherland reaches under the console like a plumber. If he had internal organs, this would be an awkward thing. His hand scrabbles around under the piping. Is that it? That? BOOOOOOM. The world shutters, and oh shit, why are you still alive? The guns. The artillery guns are firing! BOOOOM. BOOOOOM. The whole cabin shudders and rattles metal screams above you as a smart beehive...
(11:21:28 PM) Hydrogen: ...round sends thousands of mankilling spikes across the field.
(11:22:21 PM) ***Ink is highly concerned about this turn of events.
(11:22:23 PM) Hydrogen: A spike actually makes it into the cabin, and drives through your cybernetic leg. Rob disappears from your network completely.
(11:22:35 PM) Hydrogen: Fumble. Fumble. Which one is it damn it??!!?!
(11:22:41 PM) Talib: (but you won't for long)
(11:23:05 PM) ***Talib slapped a blinking ! on it.
(11:23:37 PM) Hydrogen: Whiteness. "Simulation Complete. Anti-matter containment field breached."
(11:24:01 PM) Hydrogen: (He couldn't see it with his arm in the hole, blocking the way)
(11:24:27 PM) Talib: (ah. *makes a note to have a fiber camera put in the terminator's hand*)
(11:25:04 PM) Hydrogen is now known as Gerhal
(11:25:12 PM) You are now known as Rivet_
(11:25:17 PM) Gerhal: Anyhow, sorry for the pacing at the end there.
(11:25:18 PM) Sutherland is now known as Nacht
